Respect! DanceFest Weekly with Tsiambwom Akuchu
Micaya and Brandy sit down with Tsiambwom “T” Akuchu, a Los Angeles-based hip-hop and theatre artist, choreographer, and movement director.
T is a faculty member at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), where he teaches street dance with an emphasis on its history and cultural foundations. Through his project-based company, TanzBlack Theatre, he creates concert dance works that explore the intersection of hip-hop, street dance, and physical theatre.
His work has been presented at notable festivals and platforms, including DANCE NOW NYC, SoloDuo NYC, Dumbo Dance Festival, Austin Dance Festival, and (de) Color-es Festival, among others.
This year, T brings his work FORWARD, Always to the SFIHHDF stage. In this episode, join Micaya and Brandy as they explore T’s artistic journey, cultural influences, creative practice, and the experiences that have shaped his work as an artist and choreographer.
