Breaking with focus on foundation (Toprocks, transition to footwork, footworks and transition to freeze) and also movements from his style of dance.

BIO

Navid Rezvani is a B-boy and uses the dance aspect of the Hip Hop culture to express himself. He was born in Iran and is a citizen of Norway. He is internationally known for his hard work of sharing some of the real values of the Hip Hop culture within his performances, documentaries and inspirational lectures.

Through years of traveling, competing and performing in different parts of the world, Navid takes with him his experiences of cultures, habits, struggles and stories and expresses them on stage for his audience. Navid’s goal is to act as a bridge between cultures, bringing people closer together.

After being one of the finalists in the Norwegian version of the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” and 2nd place in “Norway´s Got Talent”, Navid traveled the country with The Norwegian Touring Theatre (Riksteatret) with his performance show “Each One Teach One,” which has become a great success in Norway. He dreams of one day of winning a world championship title in Breaking.

Navid won the official Norwegian Breaking championships in 2016 and today serves as an ambassador for the Norwegian National Olympic Center. He is the first Norwegian Hip Hop dancer to have received a 3 years work scholarship from the Norwegian Art Council.

Mozaik Dance is an experimental collective, fusing popping, contemporary dance, and other street styles. Dancers and choreographers Sun Kim, Manon Bal, and J9 collaborate to explore differences and commonalities.

Class will begin with a warm up consisting of various Popping, Contemporary, and Groove technique that is used within the aesthetic of Mozaik Dance. Following the warm up, Mozaik Dance will share part of their repertoire with students.

Sun Kim hails from Korea and has won Step Ya Game Up and Book of Styles in the style of Popping. She has also danced for Madonna, Sir Elton John, Cirque du Soleil, and more. Manon Bal from France, studied at the Ailey school, and dances with Ephrat Asherie Dance as a principal dancer. J9 has immersed herself in both the underground and commercial scenery of New York City. She fuses Street Styles together and has danced for Madonna, 070 Shake and Spotify.

Join Monte Rezell of Chicago Dance Crash for a high energy, fun dance class that focuses on funk and street dance styles created by dancers of the hip hop culture. Learn techniques such as waves, isolations, poppin', grooves, breakin' elements, freestyling and more while gaining insight of the history of hip hop and origins of different street dances.

Boasting a signature "hip hop fusion" style, Crashís repertory includes choreography by some of the countryís top contemporary, jazz, and hip hop dancemakers while being commissioned to perform at events and stages including arenas, museums, rock clubs, award shows, subways, and floating atop Lake Michigan. Within the last several seasons, Crash has been featured on Italian, French, and American television as well as nationally recognized mediums including Dance Magazine and The Huffington Post. A two-time winner of the Black Theater Alliance Award for Choreography, Crash was selected by critics as ìThe Best Dance Company in Chicagoî by the Chicago Reader, hailed by Newcity Stage as one of the top two dance companies to emerge from Chicago within the past decade, and most recently was acknowledged for creating ìThe Most Inventive Work of 2017î in the U.S. by Dance Magazine.
